The Pinnacles in Mulu National Park, Sarawak, are considered a tough trek where even the Park states that they are a high risk activity that requires above average fitness and excellent health. Ladders and jungle roots make for an entertaining climb as you ascend 1200m through rainforest in a jagged limestone karst landscape. But the views are definitely worth it!

Mount Kinabalu, Borneo. Malaysia’s highest mountain, a pluton in the clouds. Over two decades ago we backpacked around Malaysia when my daughter Carmen was just a wee lassie. At 31/2 she was still small and light enough to get a lift in a backpack carrier on long walks. Roll on 21 years and we fulfilled a dream to go back and climb Mount Kinabalu.
